Pagid STREET+ vs RSL29 vs RSL1 vs RST1: Brake Pad Compound Guide

Pagid Racing brake pads for STREET+ RSL29 RSL1 and RST1 compound guide

Pagid Racing offers several brake-pad families for very different jobs, from road-legal STREET+ pads to endurance and sprint-racing compounds. RSL29, RSL1 and RST1 are not simply “levels” of the same pad. They have different friction characteristics and intended duty cycles.

Pagid STREET+: road use with track-day capability

STREET+ is the road-focused Pagid Racing range. Pagid describes it as homologated for street use, suitable for daily driving and capable of track-day use, with a focus on modulation and controllability.

That makes STREET+ the natural starting point for a performance road car that also sees occasional circuit use. It includes road-oriented features such as the relevant accessory hardware and noise-control measures for the application.

Pagid RSL29: popular track-day and endurance compound

Pagid describes RSL29 as a medium-friction compound with long pad and disc life, easy bedding and strong modulation. Its application range includes club racing, track days, GT cars, touring cars and endurance racing.

For many BMW and Porsche track-day drivers, RSL29 is attractive because predictable release and modulation can be as valuable as maximum initial bite.

Pagid RSL1: higher-friction endurance option

RSL1 is an endurance-oriented compound with a higher friction level than RSL29. Pagid highlights long pad and disc life, friction stability and use in GT, touring-car and prototype endurance racing, while noting that it is also used in sprint competition.

Choose it because the vehicle and driver need its friction and thermal behaviour, not because it sits beside RSL29 in the racing catalogue.

Pagid RST1: sprint-focused high bite

RST compounds are aimed at sprint, rally and stock-car racing. RST1 is characterised by a very high friction level, strong initial bite and high-temperature resistance. That makes it a much more aggressive choice than a road-oriented STREET+ pad.

Pagid pad families compared

Compound Main intent Character
STREET+ Performance road, occasional track day Street homologated, controllable, road-focused refinement
RSL29 Track day, club racing, endurance Medium friction, modulation, pad/disc life
RSL1 Endurance and high-performance racing Higher friction, stable and durable
RST1 Sprint/rally racing Very high friction and initial bite

Pagid for Porsche GT applications

Porsche GT applications can be available in several Pagid compounds using the same basic pad geometry. For example, our catalogue includes Pagid RSL29 front pads for 981/718 GT4 and 991/992 GT3 applications. Confirm the exact caliper and axle before ordering.

How should Pagid racing pads be bedded?

Pagid publishes a specific racing-pad bedding procedure designed to establish the correct contact pattern and friction performance. Follow the current procedure for the selected compound and carry it out only in a safe environment. STREET+ uses its own road-focused bedding guidance.

Pagid brake pad FAQs

Pagid RSL29 or STREET+ for a daily-driven BMW?

STREET+ is the more road-focused choice and is homologated for street use. RSL29 is a racing compound aimed at track and competition use. Read our Pagid RSL29 vs STREET+ guide for the direct comparison.

RSL1 or RSL29?

RSL1 offers a higher friction level and is designed around endurance racing, while RSL29 is a medium-friction compound prized for modulation and longevity. The correct choice depends on car, tyre, brake balance and driver preference.

Is RST1 suitable for normal road driving?

RST1 is a sprint/racing compound. Do not assume a racing pad is road homologated simply because the pad shape fits a production caliper.

Do Pagid race pads need different discs?

Not necessarily, but disc material, condition, thickness and previous pad deposits matter. Inspect the braking system and follow the pad and disc manufacturer guidance when changing compound.
